We are looking for people who have a genuine interest in the Civil War and a sincere willingness to authentically recreate the life of a Union soldier in the Artillery. If you are interested in our organization, here are the steps you need to follow to join: Meet the Members The first step is to meet the members of Hampton’s Battery F. Every unit has a different personality to it, and perhaps you would feel better with another Battery. If interested in our Battery, come see us at a living history event and decide whether you like this hobby. Reenacting can be a physically and strenuous hobby to be involved in. It is not for everyone. Express Your Interest to Us Next, if you have decided you would like to try us out, get in touch with us and let us know you are interested. Give us some background about yourself and ask any questions you may have. We can put you on our emailing list and invite you to observe a future event. Become a Member Once we have gotten acquainted with each other and you have read our By-Laws and fully understand its meaning then you will be voted in as a member. In some cases you maybe voted in as a probationary member if you have been with another unit. In this unit there is no number of required events to attend. After your first battle you will be given your cross cannons and the Company “F” to put on your cap by the Commander. You will receive a color copy of the document from the State Senate acknowledging our unit as the official Hampton’s Battery F reenactment unit. Also after one year of membership in good standing with the Battery you will receive The Hampton’s Battery F Challenge Coin. Uniform and Equipment You must acquire a basic uniform and the minimum equipment to participate in events with the Battery in order to present a good cannoneers impression. If need the membership will be glad to guide you to places were you can find good quality uniforms and equipment to purchase. It is not a good idea too cut corners nor buy on impulse. This hobby is expensive enough without having to buy something twice again. We do not recommend any one particular Civil War Sutler to purchase from. All have different prices and quality of merchandise. We do recommend for you to take your time to compare and look for specials.
